Jonathon Gomez Geared for Double Duty This Weekend
Gomez Chases Titles in Two Series; Focused on Winning

TWIN FALLS, IDAHO (July 15, 2010) Jonathon Gomez of Twin Falls, Idaho will have one of the most challenging weekend's of racing of his young career as he chases titles in both the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour. Saturday night, Gomez will compete in the SRL event at the half-mile paved oval of Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, CA and then immediately after the race, hop on a charter flight and fly to Portland, OR for the Bi-Mart Salute to the Troops "125" on the nearly two-mile road course layout of Portland Int'l Raceway Sunday afternoon.

"We had this weekend circled on our calendar as we planned out our season," Gomez said. "We have two great teams and have prepared for weekend's like this. I feel good about our chances at both races."

Gomez is coming off a sixth place outing two weeks ago at Toyota Speedway in NASCAR K&N Pro Series action to close within 96-point's of the lead on the strength of four top ten finishes. "We had a good run at Irwindale but it did not come easy," Gomez offered. "We have momentum heading into this weekend and I am pretty excited."

The Portland event is the second road course race of the season in the NKNPS and Gomez believes he is capable of running up front despite his lack of road-racing experience. "We had a top ten car at Infineon and I know we can be in the top five at Portland," Gomez offered. Gomez finished eleventh at Infineon in June.

On the SRL side of things, Gomez has only one finish outside the top ten this year and if not for a racing incident at Orange Show, he would be leading the standings. "We want to win races and the championship," Gomez continued. "We think we have a really shot at it in both series' and that has been our focus since the season began."

Gomez currently sits third in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series-West standings, just 96-points out of first, after six races with two top five and four top ten performances this season. His best finish this season is a second place performance among the drivers in the NKNPS-West at Iowa Speedway back in May.
