Rick Boysal Pleased with Finish in NASCAR K&N Pro Series Event at Infineon

Veteran Road Racer Rick Boysal Posts 17th Place Effort in First of Three Road Course Races

SONOMA, CA (June 18, 2010) CTR Motorsports and driver Rick Boysal of San Ramon had a solid run in the 64-lap Thunder Valley Casino Resort "200" Saturday afternoon in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series race at Infineon Racway in Sonoma, CA. While Boysal has plenty of laps around Infineon Raceway in various sports cars over the years, the heavier NASCAR machines offer a great challenge unlike any other. Boysal moved steadily through the field all race running as high as third before a late race incident cost him several positions on track.

Boysal qualified his Blentec/Gatorz/Medical Staffing Force Toyota 27th on the grid but used his considerable experience at Infineon Raceway to navigate through the traffic. By Lap 26, Boysal had moved his way into the third position when the second caution flag was brought out for a spinning car in turn 2. Boysal pitted for fuel one lap later under the care of the Thompson Motorsports crew and restarted the race in the 23rd position.

By lap 40, Boysal had worked his way back up to the 15th position on track but was mired in traffic where he lost and gained several positions over the next 12 laps. Boysal then pitted for four tires on lap 54 under caution giving him fresh rubber for a nine lap dash to the finish.

Boysal restarted 22nd and had worked his way up to the 12th position but was relegated to a 17th place finish after contact with another car on lap 63 slowed his forward progress.

"All in all it was a good day," Boysal said. "The race was playing out well for us until the last couple of laps. The car worked really good and we just ran our own race. I am glad it was a good show for our sponsors and fans and I can't wait until the next race at Portland."

Rich Bovo, Director of Account Management for Blentec was thrilled with the event. "My wife and I are huge NASCAR fans and being involved with Rick is a lot of fun for us," Bovo said. "It was fantastic seeing our logo out there on the track and watching Rick drive the car to the front. We are really excited about this racing program."

Boysal began his racing career in 2000 and has focused on road racing winning races and championships along the way in the SCCA and then later racing the SPEED World Challenge in a Corvette, along with competing in a variety of other sports car races.

The next event for Boysal in the Thompson Motorsports prepared machine is the flat 1.9-mile layout of Portland International Raceway in Portland, OR July 18. His final series road course event will be in September along side the Grand AM Series at the state-of-the-art Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah September 12.
