WWS: SWS: Lynch Las Vegas preview

LAS VEGAS& ...

LAS VEGAS– Scott Lynch spent Monday and Tuesday preparing for the 24 Hour Fitness 150 NASCAR Winston West Series race and Nevada 100 Featherlite Southwest Series race Oct. 13 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The two-day test proved beneficial for Lynch, who has never run on the 1.5-mile superspeedway.

“ This is my first time here, so we are really excited about that,” Lynch said.“ It (superspeedway) is so smooth and awesome. One thing we are doing is trying to figure out qualifying. Our strategy is to get up front and stay up front during the whole entire race.”

Lynch looks forward to the two Las Vegas races and hopes to have a pair of strong finishes.

“ It’s a fun weekend when all three divisions (Winston West, Southwest Series and Craftsman Trucks) race on the same weekend,” Lynch said.“ With the Southwest Tour it is like a mini Daytona because it is full throttle all the way around the track. So we can do a lot of drafting and things like that. With the Winston West it is just awesome to come out here and run 150 miles per hour and have some fun with everyone.

“We have had some good gains this year. We haven’t run a full season. We are swapping back and forth from Winston West and Southwest Tour, but we have had some good finishes. We are actually doing pretty well. We have some good talent on the team.”

Also testing Monday and Tuesday were Mark Reed (Winston West), Johnny Borneman (Winston West) and Sammy Potashnick (Winston West). Craig Raudman (Southwest Series) and Austin Cameron (Winston West) tested Monday.

In addition to the 24 Hour Fitness 150 and Nevada 100, the stars of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will return to LVMS for the running of The Orleans 350 on Sunday, Oct. 14. Tickets are available for all three events by calling 1-800-644-4444.
