Bob Vandergriff final report

Event: Pomona

VANDERGRIFF PLANS TO GET DIALED IN AND HIT GAINESVILLE

POMONA, Calif. (Feb. 27, 2011)- Driving the C&J Energy Services Top Fuel Dragster, Bob Vandergriff was defeated in the first round of Top Fuel eliminations today. Vandergriff qualified in 12th position and was battling Al-Anabi driver, Del Worsham, for a first round win.

With new sponsors on board, Vandergriff Motorsports has upgraded their operation by adding brand new equipment, intended to help the team win race day rounds throughout the 2011 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing season.

"We're running all new equipment this race. Having instant success at the beginning of the season is always challenging, but especially so when modifications have been made. The team has only had a few days of testing under their belts and still need a little bit of time to sort out the new gear, collect data and ensure the car is running well. We're at the point where we have the right tools, now we just need to understand the impact to the car, and deliver performance," said Vandergriff.

"The whole team has really been putting forth a lot of effort over the off season. We're really looking forward to Gainesville and making up some ground in points."

"I'll be heading to Abu Dhabi this Monday for the Drag Racing Festival and some meetings with the intent of developing a schedule for The Yas Marina team (driver, Rod Fuller) that Bob Vandergriff Racing will be operating in 2011," added Vandergriff.

"Josh Comstock, founder of C&J Energy Services, joined us at the track today along with guests of Johnson Machinery Cat. It was nice to have them with us in the pits and show them everything that goes into preparation for race day," said Vandergriff on his track guests who attended the race this weekend.

The team will be competing in Gainesville, Fla. at the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals, March 11-13.
