Hanna & Clack set sights on Shreveport

GILLIAM, La. - Despite having a year of up's and down's, rookie NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car pilot Will Hanna and Team Owner Harry Clack are looking forward to this weekend's NHRA Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Red River Raceway just outside of Shreveport, La. The team hopes new data collected at their last outing in Atlanta will pay dividends this weekend.

Hanna, 26, of Richwood, Texas, is hoping to find a 'groove' this weekend.

"We just hope to take the lessons we learned in Atlanta and apply them this weekend," said Hanna. "When you have a new combination, learning what doesn't work is still valuable information. We made some pretty major changes on Saturday in Atlanta, and it really responded favorably in the first round. It just got out close to the wall and I had to click it off, but it was on pace to run a mid to high 5.80. I think that will give us something to work with this weekend. Like always, if we can get down the track the first run like we did in Houston, we'll be set for better results."

In addition to the search for some on-track consistency, Team Owner/Crew Chief Harry Clack is looking forward to continuing the team's research and development of new parts.

"Despite being a new team, we still strive to find advances in technology," stated Clack. "We have been very pleased with the results our new FWRC oil pump has provided. We have ran it on two different motors with flawless results. Our bearing life has nearly doubled since making the switch to this new pump. Their experience in the Indy Car and NASCAR ranks is a tremendous asset to our team, and is showing results. We are still working towards fully harnessing the potential of the pump and look forward to working with them on future projects as well."

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars, with two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
