The Jeg's machine left the starting line first and never looked back. The advantage off of the starting line was .011 seconds (.448 to .459). The two drivers battled side-by-side for the win light. John took the win light by .0397 seconds at the stripe by running a 7.603 at 176.42 mph.
"That was a pretty dramatic first round match up," said John.

"The Panella team is always tough. We made a solid run in the first round and it just was a little on the short side," said Mike
In the second round John went head-to-head against Bob Panella. John left the line first by .010 seconds (.456 to .466). The win light came on for Panella by .0754 seconds at the stripe. John ran a 7.620 at 177.32 mph.
"We qualified both of the Jeg's Mail Order Chevy S-10's and I gained some much needed points to get closer to breaking back into the top ten. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel and our program is really starting to move in the right direction," explained John.
