Advance Auto Parts Driver Takes Provisional 16th
ENNIS, Texas (Oct. 7, 2005) --Cruz Pedregon and the Advance Auto Parts Nitro Funny Car completed the first two rounds of qualifying at Texas Mortorplex today taking home the 16th spot for the 20th annual NHRA Fall Nationals.
The California resident logged a 4.911-second elapsed time at 319.37 mph during the first pass of the day setting up two important qualifying sessions tomorrow.
Today's conditions were similar to last weekend's in Joliet, Ill. where Pedregon grabbed the No. 1 spot and set the second best elapsed time in Funny Car history (4.680 seconds).
"We set the car to be very aggressive," Pedregon explained. "But sometimes these cars don't do what you expect. Still, we'll be ready for tomorrow. When you run on the edge and are looking for the numbers, you're also on the very edge of going over. That's what happened today."
