The Search Continues For Pawuk Racing
RICHFIELD, OH 10/16/02 "I feel like one of those characters in a movie or TV show who's been sucked inside another show, ya know what I mean?" asked Mark "Cowboy" Pawuk following the NHRA POWERade Series race at the Motorplex. "Maybe we're living in the X-Files!
"I know how this sounds, but how do you think our whole Summit Racing Team feels?" he continued. "We went down to Houston Raceway Park to test prior to Dallas, with our intention being to run our Don Ness-built Pontiac Grand Am. We got in four runs before the weather turned bad, and things looked promising.
"We also put our engine on the dyno at one of the most respected engine builders in the country, and the results just blew me away. According the horsepower figures, we should be qualifying in the top half of the fields, but that isn't happening.
"There's no longer any question about what we're going to do with the last two races of the season: We're going to start getting ready for 2003. With that in mind, we're definitely going to run the Ness Grand Am in Las Vegas and Pomona, and if there's time, we're going to do some additional testing between now and then.
"This has been an extremely disappointing and frustrating season for everyone on our Summit Racing team, so I'm just really glad that Dan Fletcher came through with a big win in Stock eliminator. That helps, but to be honest, I want to be in that winner's circle with Dan, so we've got our work cut out for us."
