Dallas: Team JEG'S eliminations

The first round put Jeg and Troy Coughlin head-to-head. Troy switched to right lane before he rolled his Jeg's Mail Order machine into the water box. There was plenty of yellow and black on the starting line and the track during this match up.

The two brothers raced side-by-side in the best drag race of the round. Troy took the win light by .003 seconds and won on a hole shot. Troy ran a 7.030 at 196.24 mph to Jeg's quicker 6.984 at 197.67 mph.

"That was a great race for the fans," said Jeg. "My job now is to help my brother and team Jeg's win the race."

Jeg Coughlin, Jr's record this season is 24 wins in 26 rounds. He has lost to only Richie Stevens (Mac Tools Gatornationals) and Troy Coughlin (Castrol Nationals). Jeg will head to the Prestone Nationals in Chicago No. 1 in the NHRA Winston Championship points, a position that he has held all season. Jeg left the Castrol Nationals with 787 points.

"When I get into my car I focus on doing my job, which is driving. It doesn't matter to me who is in the other lane. My goal is to get lane choice for the next round," explained Troy. "We fell a little short on lane choice, but we turned on the win light and advanced to the second round."

In the second round Troy lined up next to Ron Krisher. Krisher had lane choice and moved over to the left lane while Troy sat under the tower. Troy left first and never looked back as Krisher ran into problems. He easily took the win light with a 7.058 at 196.20 mph.

"The men in yellow and black turned on the win light to roll into the semifinal round," stated Troy. "We are capitalizing on other's misfortunes and gaining points along the way."

The pairing for the semifinal round was Troy Coughlin and WJ. Troy took the advantage off of the line (.444 to .466). Both cars were joined at the hip as the rocketed down the track to the big end. Troy ran a 7.030 at 196.89 mph and lost by .002 seconds.

"That was about as tight as it gets at the stripe," Troy noted. "The guys did a great job this weekend. We moved up to the No. 4 position in the points and will start where we left off when we get to Chicago later this week."

Troy has 451 points and trails Jim Yates by a mere 8 points in a battle for the No. 3 position.

The next race for the team is the Prestone Nationals, which is held in Chicago. In addition, the Pro Stock cars will run the rescheduled Holley Dominator Duel at the event.
