Troy Coughlin, driver of one of the two Jeg's Mail Order Pro Stock Chevrolet Cavaliers has decided to withdraw from competition at the NHRA Mopar Parts Mile High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway due to a loss in the family. Troy's mother-in-law passed unexpectedly in the early morning hours Friday, July 19,2002.
"Racing is something that I take very seriously," explained Troy. "However, my family always comes first, and right now I need to be at home with my wife and kids during this emotional time."
This is the second time in Troy's racing career that he has withdrawn for personal reasons. The first time was at the 2000 NHRA Sears Craftsman Nationals in St. Louis when Troy left the race after qualifying to be at home with his wife Julie for the birth of their daughter Paige.
Troy is currently on the verge of breaking into the top-ten in the season long NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Championship standings. Troy plans to finish the West coast swing with a return to action at the Lucas Oil Products Northwest Nationals in Seattle, WA July 26-28.
