ENNIS, Texas - Don Schumacher Racing nearly won both of the top titles Sunday in the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex near Dallas.

DSR was assured of at least its 193rd NHRA title when Antron Brown's Matco Tools dragster met FRAM/Prestone's Spencer Massey in the championship round of Top Fuel to mark the 24th time and seventh in 19 events this year that a championship round in Top Fuel featured a pair of DSR dragsters.

Brown won the close race that pulled him into a tie with Massey for the points lead in the Countdown to the Championship after the second of six events in the playoffs for the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.

In Funny Car, Hagan nearly made it a "double" for DSR but lost in the final round for the Texas title and the chance for the Aaron's Dream Machine/Mopar Dodge Charger R/T tuned by crew chief Tommy DeLago to win its first title of the season.

Hagan beat DSR teammate Ron Capps and the NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge in the semifinals, but Capps still was able to extend his championship lead to 96 points over Mike Neff.

The NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series competes this weekend near St. Louis.
