ENGLISHTOWN NJ - SUMMIT FastNews - It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood ... good morning from a sunny Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, where the day dawned under blue skies with just a few wispy clouds, and now the clouds are gone too. It's cool and breezy, the racers facing a brisk headwind that has the flag standing straight out and snapping. The racers and fans are snapping too, eager to get this race in before the next wave of rain moves into the area - probably tonight. By then we should be out of here. The schedule is simple - start engines at 9:30 AM (instead of the usual 10:00 AM), pick up in the middle of the third round of Super Gas around 9:45, and bring out the Top Fuel semifinals around 11:00 AM. The event should be completed by 1:30 PM EDT, maybe a little sooner if the crews can turn the cars quicker than the alloted 90 minutes and there are no major oildowns or accidents. The pits looked like a ghost town last night, many of the Sportsman competitors forced to leave to get back to work, so there will be a number of unscheduled bye runs during today's first couple rounds. Run-by-run results will be posted on Drag Race Central and on the NHRA web site throughout the day, with summaries sent to the usual places once competition is completed this afternoon. Since the NHRA and the FastNews crew are short-handed, reports may be a little slower than usual, so please bear with us.
