Epler and Toliver form WWF Funny Car tag team

WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION ENTERTAINMENT AND JERRY TOLIVER ANNOUNCE PLANS TO BECOME A TWO-CAR FUNNY CAR TEAM

STAMFORD, Conn., August 18, 1999 - World Wrestling Federation Entertainment Inc. and Toliver Racing have announced the addition of a second Funny Car to the WWF Racing Attitude team. Joining Jerry Toliver's NHRA Funny Car team is Jim Epler, a two-time NHRA national event winner, for the balance of the 1999 racing season and beyond.

According to Jim Bell, Senior Vice President of Licensing and Merchandising for the World Wrestling Federation, "By adding a second car, we are committed to building and supporting a winning championship team. Our efforts in the NHRA is a logical brand extension and builds another intellectual property for the purpose of licensed products, merchandise sales and sponsorship opportunities." Bell continues, "With the finely skilled racing team of Jerry Toliver, Jim Epler and Rob Flynn, we feel we are positioned to make a legitimate run at the championship in 2000."

Jerry Toliver, owner of his WWF Racing Attitude team has this to say about the new relationship: "I am extremely excited to have Jim Epler on board as the driver for my second team. Not only does he bring years of experience, but also a high level of professionalism. With the addition of the second car, it enables us to compete at the same level as other top teams in NHRA Championship Drag Racing. The cohesive effort between the two teams will provide us with additional data, which in turn benefits our entire program."

A racing veteran of 12 years, Epler first competed in the alcohol funny car ranks, winning numerous races and setting the national speed records before moving up to the Fuel Funny Car division in 1991. At his fifth national event in 1992, he stunned the drag racing world by qualifying fourth and then by winning the race. That year he also garnered National Dragster's special award, "1992 Upset of the Year" for his stellar performance in beating John Force at the NHRA Winternationals. In 1993, Epler became the first funny car driver to surpass the 300-mph speed barrier, running 300.40 MPH - an honor he would hold for 12 months. Epler is also a member of the Castrol 4-second club, running his personal best of 4.933E.T. this year. His longtime sponsors, EasyCare, Chevrolet, Eckler's Corvette Parts, Akzo Nobel/Sikkens, Simoniz and others, will continue to team up with Epler to join the new WWF Racing Attitude team.
