Jeg Wants Another Win At Gainesville

Jeg Coughlin and his JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier visited the winner's circle in 2001 at the Mac Tools Gatornationals. The 33-year old second generation driver has also scored back-to-back runner up finishes in 2002 and 2003. In addition, he has chalked up a semifinal round appearance and two-second round losses since he began racing in Pro Stock.

"The Mac Tools Gatornationals is a huge event and always has been," explained Jeg. "The race has a long rich heritage that demands attention. It's the first NHRA national event that hits the East coast and the fans come out by the bus load to be a part of the action and excitement. The city of Gainesville has always welcomed the NHRA and all of the teams with open arms. The community really does a great job supporting the event."

Jeg Coughlin is hoping to put his JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier into the winner's circle for the first time this season in Gainesville. He is coming off of a disappointing first round loss where a rocker arm broke four-tenths of a second into the run and ended his day.

The 45-time NHRA national event winner is currently No. 6 in the NHRA POWERade championship with 21-races remaining in the long season. He has 89 points and is looking to claim his third NHRA Pro Stock championship. Jeg continues to lead the active qualifying streak in NHRA's most competitive class at 37 straight events.

"Mac Tools has been involved with our racing program since 1998 and they are a great partner," said Jeg. "Doing well at the Mac Tools Gatornationals is important to our team and it's important to the team at Mac Tools. Both JEG'S and Mac Tools are based in Central Ohio. We would like nothing more then to score a win for all of the dedicated Mac Tools distributors from coast-to-coast."

The team will do some additional on track testing before heading to Gainesville. Jeg is scheduled to test on Tuesday and Wednesday in Bradenton, FL.

"We have a couple of things we would like to try and the two days in Bradenton should give the opportunity we are looking for before heading to Gainesville," explained Jeg. "We just need to translate our solid qualifying efforts into round wins on Sunday and I think the testing will certainly help us."
