Grant Motorsports Announces Sponsorship of Warren and Kurt Johnson

Concord, N.C., September 17, 2010 -- Any concerns as to Pro Stock standouts Warren and Kurt Johnson's continued participation in the NHRA's Full Throttle Drag Racing Series were allayed on Friday, as Grant Motorsports LLC announced that they had entered into a sponsorship agreement with the talented tandem for the remainder of the 2010 season and beyond. Beginning with this weekend's O'Reilly Nationals in Concord, N.C., Kurt and Warren's Pontiac GXPs will display the Grant Motorsports logo, with complete paint schemes to follow in the near future.

"Warren and Kurt Johnson's approach to racing makes them the perfect spokespersons for Grant Motorsports," said Grant. "The combination of their tireless work ethic and unparalleled innovations allows them to speak to our potential customers' needs. From a local hot rodder trying to finish his project car to the professional racer trying to improve their performance, the name Johnson stands for excellence, which is exactly what we are striving for with our motorsports service facilities."

Owned by Utah businessman Jo Grant, Grant Motorsports is developing a state-of-the-art multipurpose motorsports garage in the Tooele area which is scheduled to open in June of 2011, offering individual stalls that can be rented, as well as a complete array of equipment and services for both the enthusiast and hard-core racer. With expansion to other areas of the country already in the plans, Grant sees his participation in drag racing's premier series as an ideal venue to promote his budding industry.

Warren and Kurt Johnson are the most successful father-and-son pairing in the history of the NHRA, combining to tally 136 national event victories in 226 final round appearances, as well as 168 No. 1 qualifying performances. However, having had to scale back their operation over the last year due to financial constraints, they look forward to returning to a full-scale effort thanks to their association with Grant Motorsports.

"As any racer will tell you, these cars don't run on gas, they run on money," said Kurt. "Fortunately, we had some longtime sponsors stick with us this year to help us get to this point. However, with the added funding provided by our association with Grant Motorsports, we look forward to improving our program and getting back in contention for race wins and championships."

"One thing that we share with Jo Grant is a vision for the future," said six-time champion Warren. "We each know where we want to go, and have a blueprint on how to get there. Fortunately, by working together, I believe we can help each other reach our goals. We'll start by doing what we can to finish this season on a strong note, and then focus on doing whatever it takes in the off-season to get Kurt's and my cars back at the top of the page carrying the Grant Motorsports message with us."
