Haas And Jeter Fall Early At NHRA AutoZone Winternationals

POMONA, CA. - Drag racing is a sport measured to the thousandth of a second. It was exactly .006 that bit veteran NHRA Pro Stock Truck driver Brad Jeter for the Haas & Jeter team at the NHRA AutoZone Winternationals in the first round of eliminations. The team was eagerly awaiting the first race in Pomona, the end result was not what the driver, nor crewchief Jerry Haas was looking for.

Brad Jeter was understandably disappointed after the first round loss to Rick Jones.

"I'm not going to make any excuses," explained Jeter, who finished runner-up in last season's final points tally. "This is just one race and we will accept it as that. We'll regroup and come back ready to win the next event in Gainesville."

The team qualified very well at the event, posting the fifth quickest elapsed time out of 32-entries with a 7.577/178.14.

He was paired against Rick Jones in the first round. Jones parlayed a .009 starting line advantage and that was all the advantage that he needed to win with a slower 7.600/177.21.

Jeter made a valiant bid but ran out of real estate with a quicker 7.597/178.80.

The team will seek to improve on their Pomona performance at the MAC Tools Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla., March 16 - 19.
