BAYTOWN, Texas - B&J Racing Transmissions customers once again made a strong showing during this past weekend's Matco Tools Nationals presented by Racing Champions. The semifinals in both FMD and FMFC saw cars running B&J Transmissions, though none made it past that round.

In Federal Mogul Dragster, Mark Hentges and Steve Federlin lead the way by both making it to the semifinals. Hentges took out Gene Boul, and No. 2 qualifier Doug Foley on his way to the semi's with e.t.'s of 5.522/258.22 and 5.533/257.33. Eventual winner Gary Ormsby Jr, was just too much for Hentges, running a 5.428/259.21 to put away Hentges' holeshot 5.623/255.58. Federlin used consistent 5.60's to make his way to the semifinals in taking out Brandon Henkelman and James Thompson. Fellow B&J FMD heavy hitter Shelly Howard dipped down into the 5.40's in qualifying with a 5.496/258.42 blast to qualify her sixth, but she also lost to eventual winner Ormsby.

In FMFC, B&J distributor Pat Austin once again lead the way. Austin qualified fourth with a 5.681/253.04 and took out Richard Shaver and Chuck Cheeseman on his way to the semifinals, with e.t.'s of 5.678/254.90 and 5.730/247.11, before losing to eventual winner Bartone. Austin went into severe tireshake from the launch, and was forced to lift, handing Bartone the win.
