BAYTOWN, Texas - Second year Federal Mogul Dragster driver Joe Fuentes will be looking to pick up his first win during this weekend's NHRA Division 4 Federal Mogul Drag Racing Series opener at Houston Raceway Park. Fuentes was solidly in the 5.40's (elapsed time) last weekend at the AutoZone Winternationals in Pomona, Calif., and hopes to keep the same form this weekend.

Fuentes, an electrical contractor from Austin, Texas, feels his Ora Vasquez tuned dragster and his team has what it takes to be in the Winner's Circle on Sunday.

"Basically everything is going to be the same as it was last weekend in Pomona," said Fuentes. "Last weekend, we had one of our older transmissions in the car, and it jumped up and bit us. We had a problem with our newest triple sprag B&J Transmission, but we got that fixed, and it will be in the car. We hope that will eliminate our transmission problem. We might back off of it a little for the first run on Friday to get down the track, and go from there."

After running a career best 5.44 at 257 mph last weekend, Fuentes feels more may be in store for Houston.

"We should be able to get back down into the 5.40's," commented Fuentes. "If the air is right, and with some fine tuning, we might even get down into the 5.30's. I seriously think we can run a high 5.30."

Qualifying begins at 4:30 on Friday for the Federal Mogul Dragsters. Stay tuned to J&D Racing's award winning website www.JoeFuentesRacing.com for day by day updates of the team's progress from Houston.
