BAYTOWN, Texas - Rookie Federal Mogul Dragster driver Erica Walsh-Credeur had her weekend end prematurely at this past weekend's O'Reilly Nationals presented by Pennzoil at Houston Raceway Park.
While getting out of her car from a warm up, Walsh-Credeur slipped from the stool she uses to get in and out of the car, twisting her ankle, and tearing three ligaments. The injury forced Walsh-Credeur to withdraw from competition.
"Getting out of the car to get suited up for my second qualifying pass, my foot slipped off of the stool," said Walsh-Credeur. "It sprained my ankle, tore a few ligaments, and stretched a tendon. So I just have to stay off of it for a little while."
Walsh-Credeur's injury has cast some uncertainty on to the team's next scheduled race, race three of the Division 2 Federal Mogul Drag Racing Series in Montgomery, Ala., Apr. 7-8.
"Montgomery is in two weeks," commented Walsh-Credeur. "We'll just have to play it by ear to see if we can make that race. Since I'm a rookie, I'm not going to get in the car and take any chances on further hurting myself. If it takes skipping Montgomery, that's what we'll do, so we'll just wait and see."
