WHAT: 47th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, the 18th of 24 events in the $50 million NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series. Professional competitors in five categories earn points leading to 2001 NHRA Winston championships. Sportsman competitors in seven categories earn points leading to 2001 NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series championships.

WHERE: Indianapolis Raceway Park, Clermont, Ind. The track is located on U.S. Highway 136, west of Indianapolis. Take I-465 to Highway 136 and go west to Raceway Road, then south into the park.

WHEN: Wednesday through Monday, Aug. 29-Sept. 3.

PURSE: Cash and contingency awards of more than $2.6 million.

SCHEDULE:
WEDNESDAY, Aug. 29-- Gates open at 8 a.m. Qualifying and time trials, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

THURSDAY, Aug. 30 -- Gates open at 7 a.m. Sportsman eliminations and qualifying 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

FRIDAY, Aug. 31 -- Gates open at 7 a.m. Qualifying and sportsman eliminations, 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFYING SESSION at 5:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, Sept. 1-- Gates open at 6:30 a.m. Qualifying and sportsman eliminations, 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFYING SESSIONS at 11:45 a.m. (PS Truck, Motorcycle, Car), 2:30 p.m. (TF and FC) and 4:35 p.m.
HOLLEY PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE DOMINATOR DUEL rounds at 11:30 p.m., 2:20 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

SUNDAY, Sept. 2 -- Gates open at 6:30 a.m. Qualifying and sportsman eliminations, 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFYING SESSIONS at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
BUDWEISER SHOOTOUT rounds at 12:30 p.m., 2:20 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

MONDAY, Sept. 3 -- Gates open at 7 a.m. Pre-race ceremonies, 9:30 a.m.
FINAL ELIMINATIONS begin at 10:30 a.m.

TELEVISION:
Saturday, Sept. 1, ESPN2 will televise two hours of qualifying coverage at noon (ET).
Saturday, Sept. 1, ESPN2 will televise one hour of Holley Dominator Duel coverage at 11 p.m. (ET).
Sunday, Sept. 2, ESPN2 will televise 90 minutes of qualifying coverage at 1 p.m. (ET)
Sunday, Sept. 2, ESPN2 will televise 90 minutes of Budweiser shootout coverage at 8 p.m. (ET).
Monday, Sept. 3, ESPN2 will televise two hours of early elimination round coverage at 11 a.m. (ET).
Monday, Sept. 3, ESPN will televise three hours of final eliminations coverage at 4 p.m. (ET).
Tuesday, Sept. 4, ESPN will repeat two hours of final eliminations coverage at 1 a.m. (ET).
