This is the "big one." A total of 36 Pro Stock Truck drivers began the first day of qualifying for the 46th Annual US Nationals.

Defending US Nationals Pro Stock Truck Champion Mike Coughlin was the first of the two identical looking Jeg's Chevy S-10's to take on the track. Mike launched from the starting line and headed to the big end. He ran a 7.662 at 176.17 mph and ended up in the No. 6 position after the first session.

"We made a solid run out of the trailer," explained Mike. "We had to start some place and the No. 6 spot isn't too bad. We will be ready for the morning session tomorrow."

John Coughlin and his Jeg's machine were in the last pair of Pro Stock Trucks to go down the track. John ran down the center of the groove. He ran a 7.662 at 175.02 mph and took the No. 7 spot.

"We are going in the right direction and that makes us happy," said John. "It felt great to get behind the wheel of my S-10 again in front of a crowd."
