Team Jeg's off to solid start at Mac Tools U.S. Nationals.

Pro Stock qualifying for the 48th Annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals commenced Friday evening with the first of five qualifying sessions for the 500 cubic inch big block powered factory hot rods of the Pro Stock Class. Team Jeg's drivers Jeg and Troy Coughlin were looking for quick starts out of the gate in the first attempts of the weekend. Both drivers have enjoyed success at the famed race and were well aware of the importance of getting started with a strong performance.

Troy led the initial charge for the yellow and black. The Jeg's Mail Order Chevrolet Cavalier rocketed down the quarter mile in 6.875 seconds at 199.91 mph. "It was great to make a strong pass right out of the gate," said Troy. "I think we definitely have something to work with this weekend. That run should provide a great baseline to tune from for the rest of the weekend."

Jeg Coughlin was also hopeful for a strong showing in the weekend opener. The 2000 event and series champion posted a solid 6.884 second pass at 200.11 mph in his first qualifying attempt. "We didn't get all of it, but it was certainly a solid pass," explained Jeg. "We knew that getting off to a good start was important, and the team pulled through with a great effort."

Jeg and Troy are qualified in the No.14 and No.10 positions respectively after one round of qualifying from Indianapolis Raceway Park. Pro Stock qualifying for the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals will resume with two additional sessions on Saturday.
