Indianapolis, Indiana - "We were just really excited to have been included in an event of that caliber and to have been given the opportunity to compete at that level" summed up the general consensus of the entire Pro Mod team as spoken by team owner and driver, Carl Spiering.

The team arrived in the midst of a major downpour, Friday a.m. They waited patiently and were eventually reward with what was perceived as the best parking in the house. Every professional team had to drive by them in order to line up in the lanes. The team always puts on a professional image and the fans were not disappointed as Carl and the rest of the team toured people through the Super Coach, Pace American Trailer and answered an abundance of questions regarding their Supercharged '57 Chevy.

Due to the morning rainfall, Friday's first round of qualifying was cancelled but the team was ready to go that evening. The car made a clean straight pass but it was way off their usual pace with a 6.58 seconds. Saturday's evening qualifying was an improvement in elapsed time a 6.48 seconds but not enough to get them into the eight car field. Sunday was their final attempt, the car showed a stellar 220+ mph but the elapsed time was a low seven seconds pass. What happened? When staging, the car rolled through the beams and tripped the timers, showing a slower elapsed time than what actually occurred. Looking at the time and speed increments the qualifier actually calculated to a high 6.20's pass, it would have been fast enough to get them in the program.

"That was very uncharacteristic of the performance that this car has shown in the few events it has competed in. We went from two Canadian wins and a quarterfinal finish at the World Nationals to a braking problem. It wasn't the most opportune time for the gremlins to rear themselves but we have corrected the situation and are looking forward to our next event." Replied Spiering.

The team was flying the Pace American decals on the doors for the weekend with Cutler-Hammer on the front fender. Also supporting The ToyzShop Motorsports are VP Fuels, www.johnbear.com, Crane, Weld, Pennzoil, and Bicknell Racing Products.
