NHRA AutoZone Winternationals (Pomona, CA) February 4-7th, 1999

NHRA Drag Racing fans and teams are always eager to start the season. The JEG'S Mail Order Racing Team is especially eager to begin the '99 NHRA season. The team will continue their two-car representation in Pro Stock with the well-known Coughlin duo, Troy and Jeg Jr. Mike Coughlin will return to the Pro Stock Truck class. As well as, the eldest Coughlin brother John will be introduced to the professional ranks in Pro Stock Truck. The team will be the largest in the NHRA professional classes and the largest all-family professional drag racing team.

"We feel that the two car/truck system will work to our benefit more then ever during the '99 season. Richard (Maskin, engine builder) and his staff have been extremely busy during the off season perfecting our power for both the Pro Stock and Pro Stock Truck programs," commented team adviser Jeg Coughlin, Sr. The JEG'S Racing Team will return to the quarter-mile battlefield with all members returning. The championship caliber team consists of Clint Allerton, Mike Cunningham, Craig Hankinson, Eric Luzinski, Richard Maskin, Dan McDonald, Wayne Perdue, Ron Richards, Rick Rossiter, and Scott "Woody" Woodruff. It has been said by many who follow the sport closely that there is "an obnoxious amount of talent" on this team. Coughlin said, "having our entire team returning shows our teams commitment to winning races and how serious that the team is about winning championships."

'98 NHRA "Rookie of the Year" and #2 Pro Stock finisher Jeg Coughlin, Jr. stated, "I feel confident and prepared going into the first race of the season. Our team has prepared extremely well for the challenges to come, and we are ready to go after the '99 Pro Stock Championship with everything we have". The prior two winners of NHRA's "Rookie of the Year" award have gone on to win back to back Championships in their respective classes after winning NHRA's most prestigious honor. Jeg has one of the most impressive resumes in NHRA Drag Racing and is very capable of continuing this trend. He is clearly a driver to keep your eyes on through the '99 NHRA season.

Troy Coughlin is looking forward to the new season like a child waiting for Santa Claus. The first Pro Stock win for this Coughlin is right around the corner. With a team that knows each others thoughts before they happen, the team strength will combine well with Troy's hunger for a win in the "factory hot rod" class. "Testing went very well and my sights are set firmly on the AutoZone Winternationals. I have specific goals and objectives for the season and the team is 100% committed to reaching them with me. Having a great team and Maskin power in my corner is a serious advantage," stated Troy.

Mike Coughlin will return to the Pro Stock Truck class after a successful "rookie" year. "Last season our program got quicker with each race. With the addition of Richard Maskin to the Pro Stock Truck program I'm certain that this trend will continue and the #28 JEG'S Pro Stock Truck will visit the winners circle soon," mentioned Coughlin. Mike will debut Maskin's newest small block creation at the NHRA season opener.

"My brother Mike and the entire team have been instrumental to my successful transition from Super Stock to Pro Stock Truck," said oldest brother John. John made his license runs at Gainesville Raceway in early January and adapted well immediately. John will debut his #31 JEG'S Mail Order S-10 in Pro Stock Truck at the AutoZone Winternationals. "Pomona Raceway is one of my favorite tracks. When you get to the shutoff area and look back to the starting line, it's an amazing site with the mountains in the backround. However, I'm looking forward to racing with my brothers under the same awning again," said John.

The JEG'S Team has the ingredients and the resources to make the 1999 NHRA Championship in Pro Stock and Pro Stock Truck a reality. The team goal of an all-JEG'S final will be enhanced with the addition of John Coughlin to the Pro Stock Truck class. The odds look even better when there is a pair of Coughlin's in each class.
