Windham Continues to Improve; Ready to Race on Sundays

Bill Windham says it won't be long before he will be racing on Sundays instead of offering morale support for Kenny Koretsky, his teammate on Greg Hill's Pro Stock team.

"I think I have experienced just about everything in my National Tire and
Battery Chevy Cobalt except qualifying for one of these races," said the
first-year Pro Stock competitor who was watching Koretsky race again Sunday. "But
we are getting closer to qualifying. I am getting better driving the car
each time out and I am getting adjusted to the car."
He made two full runs during a weird weekend that featured a tricky track
that many found difficult to solve. Windham was timed in 6.792 and 6.803
seconds, the first coming Saturday afternoon when the weather was hot and the
track slippery.
"We just need to persevere," he added. "We are so close. I'm driving the
car better and getting more adjusted in the car. It's the little things you
must do perfectly. Any time you lose even a few hundredths of second, it
hurts your e.t. I think we need a little luck, too.

"We haven't been able to run well in what we call the 'hero session' that is Friday night. If you don't run well then, your chances of qualifying aren' t very good."

Windham is looking forward to the approaching schedule that calls for six
races in six weeks. "Six races in a row will make me better."
