Langdon, Bernstein take Toyota to Four-Wide finals in Charlotte

TORRANCE, Calif. (April 21, 2013) – Shawn Langdon and Brandon Bernstein both advanced to the Top Fuel finals to place third and fourth in leading Toyota at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series’ Dollar General Four-Wide Nationals at zMAXDragway in Concord, N.C.

Langdon, the number one qualifier, registered the quickest pass of both of the first two rounds of eliminations before smoking the tires at half-track in the final on the way to finishing third. He was looking for his second straight victory at the track after winning in Charlotte last Fall for his first career win.

Bernstein had his strongest weekend of the season in reaching the finals after closing out the 2012 campaign with a victory at Pomona. His two round wins today equaled his total for the season.

Morgan Lucas came frustratingly close to advancing to Sunday’s final – winning his first round easily and then registering the quickest pass in his second round pod only to lose on a pair of whole shots by Spencer Massey and teammate Bernstein.

Antron Brown saw his streak of winning at least one round at every 2013 race snapped on Sunday as he fell in the first round, as did Khalid alBalooshi.

It was a more difficult day for the Toyota Camry Funny Car competitors as only Cruz Pedregon advanced past the first round as Del Worsham, Alexis DeJoria and Tony Pedregon all were eliminated in their opening runs.

The NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series heads to Houston, Texas, next weekend for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Spring Nationals at Royal Purple Speedway, April 26-28
