Callaway looking to spice things up in Houston with Tejano Salsa

BAYTOWN, Texas - NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster racer Lee Callaway will be looking to spice things up during this weekend's O'Reilly Spring Nationals presented by Pennzoil at Houston Raceway Park. Callaway, who lives just minutes from the track in Baytown, has signed Tejano Salsa as an associate sponsor, and hopes to turn the heat up on the competition.

"We're very pleased to bring Tejano Salsa on board," said Callaway. "We hope to show them what our team and NHRA Drag Racing can do for them. We're also sending out a warning to the competition. With them on board, we're teaming up to bring some serious South Texas heat. So, most teams should probably just stay at home. But, for those adventuresome teams that feel they can take the heat, we're leaving a five-gallon jug of ice water by the first turn-off to cool them down after we're done with them."

Callaway also hopes to turn his season around this weekend.

"We've had some things slow us down this year," stated Callaway. "Once we found the problems, the motor was a lot happier, and we've just been trying to readjust to the new horsepower. We're going to try our hardest to get into the 5.30's this weekend at our home track."

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars, with one final session Saturday morning. Eliminations begin Saturday evening, and final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
