Pomona, Calif., Nov. – Jason Line continued his mastery of qualifying with a fourth-consecutive number one as he used today’s two quickest Pro Stock runs to drive the Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro onto the pole for Sunday’s 48th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA finals here at Auto Club Raceway.
The reigning and two-time NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock champion opened today’s qualifying with a track-record 6.517-second pass at 212.56 miles per hour. Later in the afternoon, his 6.518-second round was a shade faster at a track-record 212.69 mph.
“We had a great run this morning, but I thought the second was even better,” he said in describing his ninth pole of the 2012 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series season and 33rd of his career. “We had really two good runs today and were lucky enough to get the pole.
“We’ve gotten a better handle on our Summit Camaro and it’s turning out to be a really good race car. I wouldn’t have thought it would take this long (since its July introduction), but it has; we now have a really good race car and it feels good.”
When final eliminations begin at 11 a.m. PST, Line will face Kurt Johnson in the first round.
