White and Etterman Racing team shooting for top five finish this season.

NEWAYGO, Mich. - After finishing seventh nationally for the third time in four years, NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car pilot Marc White and the Etterman Racing team have their eyes set on a top five finish or better for the 2003 season.  The team won two events last year in six final rounds, and hopes to improve on that mark this year.

In addition to finishing in the top five nationally White, from Glendale Heights, Ill., has his eye on the Division 3 Championship, which he won in 1998.  He feels the team is up to the challenge this year.

"We have the same team coming back this year," said White.  "That's always good, especially when you got as good a bunch of guys as we got.  It always makes me feel good going to the starting line knowing that George [Etterman - car owner], my brother Tim and Danny [Bevans] have the car ready to go.  We have our goals set pretty high, but all we need to do is do all of our jobs well and get a few breaks along the way.  We tried a few things toward the end of the year last year that seem to be going our way, so I'm looking forward to this year.  I think it's going to be a good year for us."

In addition to having the same team back on board, the Etterman Racing team has the same associate sponsors on board, which include  Haulmark, Michigan Kenworth, NRC Conversions, InsideTopAlcohol.com, Valvoline and NGK.

"We're pretty happy to have everyone back on board," stated White.  "We're still hunting for a major sponsor, but if it wasn't for Haulmark, Michigan Kenworth, NRC Conversions, InsideTopAlcohol.com, Valvoline and NGK, it would be hard to imagine racing on this level."

"This year, we're just going to give it all we can and do our best."
