DELAWARE, Ohio -- After a nice off-season, JEGS.com Top Sportsman Camaro driver Mike Coughlin is ready to get back in the seat.
Coughlin is one of the elite drivers in the Top Sportsman category in Division 3, winning division championships in 2007 and 2009, and he is ready to shine this year.
Coughlin will once again start his season alongside nephew Troy Jr. at the JEGS NHRA Cajun SPORTSnationals in Belle Rose, La."Belle Rose is one of our favorite races," Coughlin said. "It's always a good time and everyone is really friendly.
We've been going there a while now, and it's always a great place to start the season. I can't wait to get behind the wheel and do some racing."
The JEGS.com team will head down to No Problem Raceway Park a few days early to test before the event, which runs March 21-23. Coughlin will be joined once again by crewmembers Greg Cody, Rick Rossiter, and Ron Richards this year.
"The goal for the season is to attend eight races, plus the three SPORTSnationals," Coughlin said. "We haven't changed much on the car and have just done some basic winter maintenance. I hope I can do my job as a driver, but I'll do the best I can for my guys."
Coughlin is also getting sons Jack and Clay ready for the Jr. Dragster program this summer. Coughlin planned his racing schedule around their program so they can still race together.
"I'm very excited to go racing with the boys," Coughlin said. "It's a lot of fun we can have together as a family. I know they're excited to get back to racing, too, and it won't be long before they're driving again. We hope it's a great year."
