Finke and Manzo On Top at Lebanon Valley Dragway

WEST LEBANON, N.Y. -- The final results from NHRA Lucas Oil drag racing series from Lebanon Valley Dragway are in. In both Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car the No.1 qualifier went all the rounds successfully and into the winners circle. In the Top Alcohol Dragster finals John Finke, of Selkirk, N.Y., defeated Arthur Gallant, from Boxboro, Mass., with a time of 5.378 second at 275.67 mph. In Top Alcohol Funny Car, Frank Manzo of Morganville, N.J., was back to his normal winning ways taking home the hardware for the 10th time. Manzo has won 10 out of the last 14 Lucas Oil events here at Lebanon.

In the Comp Eliminator class Sal Biondo, of Maspeth, N.Y., fell one step short of victory in a loss in the final rounds to Al Ackerman, from Saddle Brook, N.J. Joseph Santangelo from Marlborough, Conn., experienced the thrill of victory in the Super Stock class driving his '90 Camaro to a winning time of 10.357 seconds. In Stock Eliminator action Perry Hall, Md., resident Lee Zane piloted his '98 Firebird to a winning weekend. His pass in the finals with a speed greater than 115 mph landed him down the quarter mile in a time of 10.872 seconds.

In other racing action Super Comp competitor and York, Pa., resident Tom Hunter finished his weekend taking victory photos. His time of 8.893 seconds was good enough to give Barbara Seemann, from Little Falls, N.J., a loss in the finals. In the Super Gas category Mac Starks Jr from Springfield, Mass., drove his '67 Camaro, to a time of 9.913 seconds in his final round win. Russell VanSteenburg, from Lake Katrine, N.Y., lost in the finals of Super Street to Martin Ganjoin Jr., who hails from Brick, N.J. In the Top Dragster class Dennis Territo, of Enfield, Conn., drove his dragster, to a winning run of 7.398 seconds at 178.07 mph. Last but not least Daniel Hill, from Thomaston, Conn., hit a top speed 175.50 mph on his way to taking home the win.

Northeast Division racers head to Cecil County Dragway for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, August 22- 24.
