CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT PACIFIC RACEWAYS

KENT, Wash. -- In the final results from Pacific Raceways Doug Lambeck of Corona Del Mar, Calif., took the win over Hoquiam, Wash., resident Pat Byron in his '06 Sunfire running 8.402 seconds at 151.78 mph.

Tacoma racer and home town runner Mark Faul of Tacoma, Wash., out ran Will Kelly of Walla Walla, Wash., in Stock Eliminator. The former division champion Faul drove his '69 Chevelle to a 10.844 second, 115.45 mph pass for the win. In Super Stock it was Jimmy DeFrank of Chatsworth, Calif., winning over Brush Prairie, Wash., resident Sean Cour while Tom Manfred won a battle of the Mustangs in Super Street. Manfred of Liberty Lake, Wash., drove is '81 mustang to the win over Gerry Epp of Abbotsford, B.C., in his '67 Mustang.

Other winner's on Sunday were Stefan Kondolay of Chilliwack, B.C., over Cheryl Morris of Olympia, Wash., in Super Comp; John Whitmore beat Jerry Epp in Super Gas; Doug Rathbun won in Sportsman Motorcycle presented by Harley Davidson; Randy Johnson of Bothell, Wash., won in the Auto Max USA Top Sportsman class; Blu Hayball of Fort Hall, Idaho, won over JR Leerkamp of Olympia., Wash., and Troy Henderson of Vancouver, Wash., ran down Jody Murray of Bonney Lake, Wash., in Super Pro.

In Saturday's racing action, 2-time NHRA Pacific Division Top Alcohol Dragster Champion Duane Shields of Boulder City, Nev., out ran No. 1 qualifier Randy Eakins with a lap of 5.286 seconds at 273.72 mph. Eakins of Carson, City, Nev., slowed to a 5.659 seconds, 246.98 mph in the finals.

Anaheim, Calif., and veteran racer Dennis Taylor picked up his second win in as many years winning in the Top Alcohol Funny Car class with a run of 5.567 seconds, 259.39 mph over Sean O'Bannon who has three final round appearances this year but is still looking for his first win. Taylor beat Russ Parker and division points leader Clint Thompson on his way to the final round match up with O'Bannon.

North West Division racers head to Woodburn Dragstrip, for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, July 11-13.
