Cruz Pedregon/Advance Auto Parts Funny Car Racing team to finish 2002 season at Pomona Raceway.

Pomona, CA --As the 2002 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing season comes to an end, Cruz Pedregon and the Advance Auto Parts Racing Team will make a final attempt of their debut season to claim victory within the nitro Funny Car category. With California serving host to the season opener as well as the finale, the Advance Auto Parts team will take to Pomona Raceway for the second time this season to compete at the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Nationals, November 7-10th.

"With this being the last race of the year, we have nothing to lose," commented owner/driver Cruz Pedregon, "We are focused on this event and hope to finish the season on a high note. I always go into every race with the attitude that we can win. Our goal here in California is to go for it and have a strong finish. I want to do well, especially in my hometown."

On a technical side, the Advance Auto Parts Team has closely studied the tune --up at those races which they have done best -- namely the Indianapolis race where Cruz qualified third. The team is looking to replicate a similar tune-up at Pomona Raceway in hopes of qualifying in the top five. Track and weather conditions also factor into the success of the tune.

While Cruz Pedregon hopes to accomplish his own goals at the event, he also comments on brother Tony Pedregon and his race to the 2002 NHRA POWERade Championship.

"On the flip side of things, I would really like the opportunity to race John Force during a round in hopes of helping my brother, Tony, in his efforts to claim the Championship. Anything can happen when it's this close. All in all -- I support Tony and hope that he can pull it off."
