Pro Mod drivers aim for win at the AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Shootout

LAS VEGAS (October 20, 2004) -- Eight drivers have their sights set on winning the second annual AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Shootout.

The AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Shootout will take place on Oct. 30 during qualifying for the NHRA AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Challenge, an NHRA exhibition class, being held in conjunction with NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals, October 28-31, at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The Shootout features the most consistent Pro Mod qualifiers throughout the NHRA AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Challenge season. Drivers began earning points at last season's Las Vegas event and concluded at the previous event in Dallas this year.

The top eight qualifiers that will compete in this year's AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Shootout are: 1.) Mike Ashley (48 points), 2.) Fred Hahn (36), 3.) Von Smith (36), 4.) Al Billes (26), 5.) Shannon Jenkins (23), 6.) Mike Janis (20), 7.) Zach Barklage (19) and 8.) Mike Castellana (19).

The opening round pairings for the Shootout are:

1.) Mike Ashley ('67 Shelby Mustang) vs. 8.) Mike Castellana ('68 Camaro)

2.) Fred Hahn ('01 Corvette) vs. 7.) Zach Barklage ('04 Grand Am)

3.) Von Smith ('04 Mustang) vs. 6.) Mike Janis ('63 Corvette)

4.) Al Billes ('53 Corvette) vs. 5.) Shannon Jenkins ('68 Camaro).

AMS Staff Leasing provides a $10,000 winner take all purse for the AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Shootout. The inaugural Shootout last year saw Mitch Stott take the win light and $10,000 when he defeated Shannon Jenkins.
