SCRIBNER, Neb. - Despite coming one round short of his third straight NHRA Division 5 win, Top Alcohol Dragster driver Alan 'Quick Draw' Bradshaw took command of the Division 5 points lead with a runner-up finish during this past weekend's Division 5 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at the Nebraska Motorplex in Scribner, Neb. The weekend also marked the first event with his new associate sponsor, Tony Owens, Attorney at Law.

Bradshaw, who is a practicing chiropractor when not racing in Odessa, Texas, started the event strong by taking the Sealed Power low qualifier spot with a 5.733 second elapsed time at 248.41 mph. In round one, Bradshaw defeated Robin Samsel when he did not make the call, singling to a 5.783 at 245.03 mph to set up a match with defending Division 5 Champ David Wells. Bradshaw took the jump off the line and held off Wells with a 5.804 at 243.04 mph to Wells' right-there 5.805 at 248.20 mph.

In the final, Bradshaw experienced engine failure at four seconds into the run, negating any chance of picking up his third straight Division 5 win. Callaway went on to win with a 5.878 at 241.74 mph to Bradshaw's troubled 5.920 at 235.35 mph.

"It really looked like we had everything set to win," said Bradshaw. "We ran well the entire event, but had a rod let go at 4.1 seconds into the run in the final. Obviously, we lost a ton of power right there, and lost the race. All in all, it was a good weekend besides that. We qualified No. 1, and put on a good showing for our new associate sponsor Tony Owens, Attorney at Law."

"The crew and my tuning consultant Tom Conway all did their jobs superbly this weekend," continued Bradshaw. "We really don't know what caused to rod to break, but that's just drag racing I guess, you're going to have those things happen sometimes."

Bradshaw's new sponsor, Tony Owens, Attorney at Law, is a personal injury law firm located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Bradshaw is excited about his team's new marketing partner, and looks forward to a long relationship with the company.

"We are really excited to have the Tony Owens group on board," stated Bradshaw. "Through displaying their phone number - 1-888-CAR-WRECK - we can definitely get their name out there. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season and beyond to show them what NHRA Drag Racing has to offer."

Bradshaw's next event will be the final Division 5 event at Tri-States Raceway in Earlville, Iowa, Sep. 6-8. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
