Seattle: One in one out for Team Jeg's

The second and final day of qualifying for the professional classes started a little on the wet side. The low clouds and mist set in at Seattle International Raceway and delayed the quartermile action in the morning. As the day went on the conditions improved.

Jeg Coughlin began the third qualifying session on the outside looking in from the No. 18 position. The Jeg's Mail Order Chevrolet Cavalier rocketed off of the line and made some aggressive moves in the first 330-feet. The car calmed down at half-track and faded toward the center stripe.

The run was an improvement for Jeg. He ran a 6.898 at 200.71 mph and ended up in the No. 14 spot.

"We left a lot on the table in the third session. Our main focus was to get into the show. With the threat of rain we knew what we had to do and we could not get too aggressive," said Jeg.

Troy started the second day of qualifying sitting in the No. 12 spot. He rolled into the left lane. The familiar yellow and black Cavalier carefully rolled into the stage lights. He launched and the car immediately moved toward the wall and Troy was forced to shut off. Troy slipped to the No. 15 position.

"The car just took off to the left from the start. I pushed the clutch in and coasted to the finish line. We had high expectations going into the third session knowing that we had the best conditions of the weekend," explained Troy.

Troy pulled his Jeg's machine into the water box and did his burnout. When he stopped on the track and put the car into reverse the engine turned off. He tried to restart the engine but continued to have problems and was forced to be pushed off of the track. Troy ultimately was bumped out.

"The oil pump belt came off and we didn't have any oil pressure. When it rains it pours. We will focus on my brothers car 100%. Team Jeg's will regroup and be ready for Sonoma as a team," said Troy.

Jeg improved during the final qualifying session. The car rocketed off of the line and cruised straight down the middle of the groove to the big end. The Jeg's Chevrolet Cavalier crossed the finish line beams with a 6.865 at 201.58 mph. Jeg jumped up to the No. 9 spot.

"The race track is in great shape. To see some of the numbers that we did speaks very highly for the track conditions. We still left some on the table and we will focus on making cleaner runs on raceday when it counts the most," commented Jeg.

Jeg Coughlin will face off against Ron Krisher in the opening round. Lane choice will go to Krisher. With the lanes equal it should not make any difference and you can never count out the reigning Pro Stock Champion.
