Lucas Oil to sponsor Brainerd event

GLENDORA, Calif. (June 25, 2003) - Lucas Oil Products, an industry leader in lubricants and fuel treatments, has signed a multi-year agreement to become the title sponsor of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event at Brainerd International Raceway, it was announced today by National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) officials.

The Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals will be held Aug. 14-17 at the spacious quarter-mile facility located in the popular resort area of Brainerd, located in central Minnesota. The $1.9 million race, which will be televised by ESPN and ESPN2, is the 16th of 23 events in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series for 2003.

"We are very excited to have the opportunity to be the title sponsor of the NHRA national event in Brainerd, Minnesota," said Forrest Lucas, president and CEO of Lucas Oil Products. "The decision to sponsor this race was an easy on for Lucas Oil. We have a large number of customers in both Minnesota and Canada and this race allows us to host and entertain those customers. Canada is a large and growing market for Lucas Oil and we look forward to sponsoring the Lucas Oil Nationals at a facility close enough for our customers to attend."

It is the third NHRA national event sponsorship for Lucas Oil Products for the 2003 season. The company also is the title sponsor for the spring event at the state-of-the-art Route 66 Raceway outside of Chicago and the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals, Sept. 11-14, at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pa.

In addition, Lucas Oil Products is the title sponsor for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series for sportsman competitors and provides primary sponsorship to several teams in that series, including Morgan Lucas in Top Alcohol Dragster, Jason Rupert in Alcohol Funny Car and Thomas Bayer in Super Comp. Lucas Oil Products is an associate sponsor for several professional category teams, including the Miller Lite dragster driven defending Top Fuel champion Larry Dixon and the and the Budweiser/Lucas Oil dragster currently driven by Kenny Bernstein.
