SCHMALL, LEWONDOWSKI REPEAT; PUEBLO MOTORSPORTS PARK TAKES TEAM TITLE

MORRISON, Colo. -- Pueblo Motorsports Park and five racers made a long weekend worth every bit of effort in taking home victories at this weekend's NHRA West Central Division Summit Racing Series Finals at Bandimere Speedway. Andy Schmall and Tim Lewondowski defended their titles and will get a second shot at the National Championship when they head to Pomona, Calif., and do battle with the other NHRA Division Champions in mid-November.

Schmall, of Lino Lakes, Minn., and running for Brainerd International Raceway held off Phil Bish, Centennial, Colo., of host track Bandimere Speedway for the win in the Pro category.

Lewondowski, St. Paul, Minn., represented Grove Creek Raceway in the winner's circle with his win in Sportsman over Jeff Scheinost out of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Douglas Motorsports Park.

Jeff Soloman recorded a perfect 0.00 second reaction time on his way to beating Darrell Contreras, of Pueblo Motorsports Park by 0.0125 seconds for the win in Super Pro. The Pleasant Hill, Mo., racer from Kansas City Int'l Raceway clicked off eight round wins on his way to the winner's circle.

Davenport, Iowa, racer Tom Klemme, running for Cordova Dragway Park, took the win in the Motorcycle class over Alex Barmettler of Maplewood, Minn., and Ricky James of S.R.C.A. Dragstrip won the High School eliminator in his '67 Chevy II over Cody Moser out of Bandimere Speedway and Northglenn, Colo.

The team from Pueblo Motorsports Park collected 63 points on their way to dominating the Team Championship with a 10 point lead over second place Bandimere Speedway and nearly 20 points over third place finisher S.R.C.A. Dragstrip.
