Kincaid Racing's Stephen Cox to Compete for a Place in Racing History at the Legendary Parker 425

PARKER, Ariz. February 5, 2010 - When veteran asphalt racer Stephen Cox takes the green flag in Kincaid Racing's Trick Truck at this weekend's Bluewater Resort Parker 425, he will not only be driving in the second desert race of his career but also vying for a place in the record books.

Should the Kincaid team post a win at the legendary Parker event, Cox would join Parnelli Jones as one of the only drivers in American racing history score wins on dirt ovals, asphalt ovals, road courses and desert courses.

While hard for some fans to believe, many of racing's most famous American drivers have never claimed victory on these four surfaces, including Ken Schrader, Dale Earnhardt, A.J. Foyt, and Dan Gurney. Racing great Mario Andretti never won on the desert circuit, while Bobby Unser logged wins only on ovals, road courses and hill climbs.

Since the 1970's, most drivers have specialized in a single form of motorsports racing. However, that doesn't mean that some of today's leading drivers, including Rich Voss and Robby Gordon, have ruled out the possibility of one day sharing the title with Jones.

"It would be quite an accomplishment for Stephen to claim that title," said Voss. "This is a tough race and a Trick Truck is easy to over drive. I told Stephen that reading the terrain is what it's all about in desert racing."

Cox, a 2-time road racing series champion and 13-time race winner, will join veteran desert racers Scott and Gary Kincaid to tackle the Arizona terrain in Kincaid Racing's 900+ horsepower Trick Truck at the Parker 425. On Thursday, Scott Kincaid qualified the team truck 10th in class and 30th overall in time trials.

"Right now I'm just focused on trying to hold my own this weekend while racing against some of the sport's top desert drivers," said Cox. "I'm driving in a great truck with a great team though, so we're going to give it all we've got and go for the win!"

About Kincaid Racing Kincaid Racing is led by veteran driver Scott Kincaid. The team races a 900+ horsepower Trick Truck in the Best in the Desert off-road desert racing series. Kincaid began his racing career in motocross at age 12, and then moved up to the Mickey Thompson Series of stadium races driving a Class 10 buggy where he was named SCORE "Rookie of the Year" in 1983. Joining the off-road desert racing circuit after a 17-year hiatus from racing, Scott piloted Kincaid Racing's Porter PRC-1 Class One Unlimited Race Car to a third place finish in the Henderson 400 in 2005. The team next placed first overall in 2006 at the McKenzies 400 race. In 2008, Scott raced the Kincaid team's Trick Truck to a top five finish at the Parker 425 and placed first overall at the Rocky Point 200 in Mexico.
