Ace Motorsports Opens Season With Two Awesome 1st Place Wins At Pahrump !

Once again, the ACE Motorsports "TEAM SUV" dominated the dirt by winning not one, but two 1st place trophies and over $ 24,000.00 in the season opener at The Best In The Deserts' TERRIBLE TOWN 250 on April 7, 2001, competing in the "Pro-Stock" Truck SUV 3100 and 4100 class.

Coming off a long winter of preparation and testing after capturing a 1st and 2nd place season award last year, the awesome Expedition and the formidable Explorer took off from the start and never looked back!

Both trucks picked their way through competitors and were never challenged for the lead, scoring an impressive double win. The race was marked with incredible and dramatic weather, where the trucks saw rain showers, snow and sleet through the April Desert terrain! Temperatures went from a chilly 28 degrees to near 60, making for a wet and wild day.

EXPLORER REPORT 3102:

Marc Winocur piloted this race, assisted by veteran racer Doug Jansen who recently joined the team, as Co-driver. Doug jumped out at halfway, where Mike Compton resumed his usual seat as Marc's Co-driver to finish an otherwise flawless yet cold day of fun! Marc was first off the start line in his class, and never looked back. Driving the highly improved Explorer, Marc picked his way up the field, leaving all the class 3100 trucks in his wake, and passed all but one of the 4100 class trucks as well, gaining an incredible 1+ hour lead by race end. Except for a minor stop for fuel at pit 4, which included a towel to dry off and to add a dry co-driver, the day was just a Pre-run Marc Explains! Dave Turner, who normally shares half the driving duties, played crew chief this race to ensure an error-free pit strategy. Marc stated, "I have to thank Dave Turner and the entire prep and pit support crew for engineering a virtually new truck over the winter. If we can keep up this pace through the year, we'll be very tough to catch." Marc said that all he had to do was steer for the 262 miles, due to the great preparation and talent that he has from all his race support crew. "They are the workhorses that make my job look very easy. I just get in and go! Thanks to them, the truck ran great."

EXPEDITION REPORT 4101:

Drivers Marc Stein & Mike McComas & Co-Drivers Chris Tartar and Mark Jernigans lead the now famous 'BILSTEIN FORD EXPEDITION' to another class victory at the BEST IN THE DESERT series opener. Marc Stein drove the first half of the race. He led the class after mile marker 6, while Mike "closed the deal" and brought home another victory with over 1-hour lead. Proud of the team and the ACE prep efforts, Marc said "this was every racers dream to have not one minute of down time! We look forward to some tough racing with our Ford."

The ACE Motorsports TEAM SUV extends a great thanks to their loyal sponsors: FORD TRUCKS, BILSTEIN GAS PRESSURIZED SHOCKS, GOODYEAR TIRES, DURALAST BATTERIES, VISTEON, AUTOMETER GAUGES, K&N FILTERS, HELLA LIGHTING, ACE UNIFORMS, PRP, and BORLA EXHAUST.
