Probst Motorsports Takes Home Another Top 5 Finish

Kevin Probst came to Crandon looking to build on his strong Round 10 finish in Bark River. After the traditional Friday parade through downtown Crandon, Kevin, Zach, Woody, and the crew got the #99 U.S. Army Toyo Tires Chevrolet Silverado ready for the BorgWarner Shootout qualifying session.

The qualifying session determines the front row of the starting grid of the Sunday afternoon "high stakes", BorgWarner World Championship Manufacturers' Shootout. The eight fastest PRO-2 qualifiers get a front row starting position and a quarter mile head start on the faster PRO-4 trucks. Of the twelve PRO-2 trucks entered, Kevin qualified fourth fastest and easily made the front row.

Saturday - Round 11

The field of seventeen PRO-2 took the green flag with Kevin coming cleanly out of Turn One in seventh place. Quickly the #99 U.S. Army Truck moved up to sixth and looking to catch fifth place #41 Whelchel. On lap 2 Kevin suddenly developed a flat tire from contact made a driver trailing the #99 Chevrolet Silverado. Before any serious damage was done to the truck, Kevin came in for a quick tire change. Unfortunately this put the Probst Motorsports #99 one lap down. At the checkered flag Kevin came home in fourteenth place.

Sunday - Round 12

Overnight Kevin and Crew Chief Zach Zagar, decided to make a gear change in the #99 U.S. Army Chevrolet looking to a better jump coming out of the corners. When Sunday morning came along, the track announced that practice would be cancelled into order to perform track maintenance. Kevin and the team would now have to go into Sunday's race without any feedback from the gear change.

The start saw Kevin come cleanly out of Turn One, but back in the pack. Quickly Kevin got "up on the wheel" and put the Toyo Tires to work. After a couple of laps, the truck seemed really hooked up. The lap times were coming down as Kevin made his way the through the field. Just as the fourth place truck was in his sights. The checkered flag came out and Kevin came home a hard fought fifth place.

Afterwards Kevin Probst commented, - The changes we made in the truck last night made the truck must faster. Starting back in the pack makes it tougher be a part of the lead group. The Toyo Tires gave me the traction I needed to get through all the traffic. The team is really looking forward to heading back to San Diego and getting back on the podium."

12th Annual BorgWarner World Championship Manufacturers' Shootout This unique event pits PRO-2 (two wheel drive) against PRO-4 (four wheel drive) trucks in a 10-lap shootout. The winner of the event can take home over $25,000 in less than 15 minutes. The top qualifying eight PRO-2 trucks get a quarter mile head start on the sixteen PRO-4 trucks.

Kevin qualified on the front row, looking to put his name on the one of kind BorgWarner Championship Trophy. When the green flag fell, all twenty four of the 800+ horsepower trucks screaming into Turn One. By the third lap, two of the PRO-4 trucks had already made their way to the front of the field. By lap six, Kevin had moved into sixth place when a rear suspension member failed, ending the "Shootout" early for the team.

Currently has moved the Probst Motorsports #99 into the ninth position in the Championship standings. With eighty points still available (twenty points for winning each round), the top thirteen drivers in the standings still have a shot at the 2006 championship.
