Gerrari Offroaders crowned JK Tyre-Orange 4x4 Fury champions
Chandigarh’s Gerrari Offroaders emerged champions in the 2017 JK Tyre-Orange 4x4 Fury after winning five of the six stages in the three-day event.
Set in the Lower Dirang Valley in Arunachal Pradesh, the 4x4 Fury is part of the Orange Festival of Adventure and Music.
22 drivers (and co-drivers) from 11 teams took part in the off-road event, with Gerrari Offroaders taking the spot by amassing 514.5 points.
The Chandigarh-based off-roading squad had two of the most qualified off-roaders in Ultimate Desert Challenge winner Kabir Waraich and two-time RFC India champion Gurmeet Virdi.
Together with co-drivers Yuvraj Tiwana and Dushyant Khosla, they claimed victory by 116 points from Association of Off-Roaders from Nagaland (NOLA).
NOLA’s line-up of Angulie Vupru and Sathish Kumar, in turn, finished marginally ahead of home team MOCA and its drivers Miranjeet Choudhury and Tsengtsing.
The final day of the event comprised of two tricky stages, inaptly called the Bushman and Showman.
In the Bushman, cars had to climb over wood logs, go across the river to the jungle and return back to the original position - all within 20 minutes.
Showman, by contrast, featured a man-made gradient of twelve feets, testing the full capabilities of drivers and their vehicles.
