Infinity Motorsports shows consistency in Traxxas TORC Redbud event

Buchanan, Mich, -- Infinity Motorsports, backed by LOCTITE and WARN Industries, set out this past Memorial Day weekend at Redbud MX in Buchanan, Michigan, to show the Traxxas TORC series that they could easily be a force to be reckoned with before this season is over.

The action was hot both on AND off the track with temperatures soaring near the high 90’s. But that didn’t slow down the fans or the action. All classes, both Pro and Sportsman, had a great turnout and continued to show why the Traxxas TORC series is the dominant force in short course off-road racing.

“I’m working pretty hard to be able to transition between Super Buggy and Pro Unlimited 2 but it’s starting to all come together”, said Andy Zipperer, team principal of Infinity Motorsports. Andy premiered his brand new Keith Stamper built Pro Unlimited 2 race truck this past weekend. With only two short days of testing at the Crandon International Speedway, Andy took to the track determined to start tuning in not only himself, but also this brand new, beast of a truck. Andy showed constant progress from the first Pro 2 practice session on Friday all the way through the final race on Sunday showing zero issues with the machine.

Andy continued to show his speed and consistency in the Super Buggy class on both Saturday and Sunday, with strong 2nd and 3rd place finishes, respectively. Many things put a smile on Andy’s face this weekend as he was surrounded by family and friends, and he was overheard saying, “To be able to have four (4) different classes represented by our team and even more important, to have my oldest daughter, Maggie Zipperer out here as one of those four cars, is exactly what makes me happy”.

Maggie is competing in the Sportsman 1600 Light Buggy class and is showing early that she’s here to make a name for herself. She’s become a class favorite among her peers as well as the series organizers and at only 15yrs old, she’s also attracted some very high profile sponsors. Maggie took to the track in Saturday’s practice session, while only suffering minor radio communication issues, and started to put down consistent laps. That consistency continued but as the track started to rut up later within the weekend, she fell victim to the Redbud Rut, large enough to steer her buggy too close to the wall and eventually bending some front end metal. After the team thrashed to rebuild her race car she took to the track once again on Sunday. Picking up where she left off on Saturday, she started to put down clean laps, making multiple passes and moving through the field, only to have power train issues take her out early.

Nick Baumgartner, the third and final driver in the Infinity Motorsports camp for the weekend, also had an extremely successful weekend. In only the second pro race that Nick has competed in, he finished an impressive 7th and 6th place, respectively during the weekend. Nick competes in the Pro Lite division, which is one of the most highly competitive classes on the race weekend schedule. Nick is an Olympic snowboarder and multi-time X Games gold and silver medalist. No one else in the pit area is acquiring fans at the rate that Nick is. He is the crowd favorite at this time and spent the majority of his time either meeting fans, signing hero cards and even plenty of mic time in the announcing booth.

Next race on the Traxxas TORC schedule is “The Big House”, also known as Crandon International Raceway on June 16-17. Infinity Motorsports will be fielding and unprecedented 5 vehicles and look forward to an even more impressive weekend.
