Jagat Nanjapa wins RFC South India
Nine-time National Rally Riders’ champion Jagat Nanjapa emerged victorious in the South edition of Rainforest Challenge (RFC) India, beating Dr. Chaitanya Challa and Pradeep Kumar to the crown.
Nanjapa, along with co-driver Chethan, scored 525 out of a maximum 600 points across six special stages.
Following the result, Nanjapa representing V5 Offroaders of Coorg gained an automatic entry into the main RFC event in Goa.
“It was a superb experience. Certain obstacles that we did in a few Special Stages were completely new experiences for us,’’ a jubilant Nanjapa said.
“They made us push our vehicle to its limit and also made us realize that a lot of upgrade is required on our Jeep to make it ready for the Goa event.
“Apart from vehicle modification, I am also going to work on my physical fitness over the next few months to be completely ready for the competition ahead,’’ he concluded.
Second in the results was Dr. Chaitanya Challa (Syed Taj) of Charminar Off-road Adventure Club of Hyderabad, with Bangalore Offroaders Development Association (BODA)’s Pradeep Kumar completing the podium positions. The duo scored 475 and 425 points respectively.
Madhusudhan Reddy, also representing BODA, was honoured with the Spirit of RFC award.
Just like the North Edition, the track for the South Chapter of RFC India was designed by David Metcalfe, along with the Cougar Motorsport team.
Each stage tested driving and vehicle recovery skills of the 11 participating teams in extreme off-road conditions.
“With the overwhelming response that we have received from participants and spectators of the North and South India Chapters, our objective of taking the RFC to various regions of India was successfully achieved,’’ Cougar Motorsport director Ashish Gupta said at the conclusion of the South Edition.
