By:

Force Motors’ Tan Eng Joo and co-driver Tan Choon Hong lead the Rainforest Challenge India standings after the conclusion of the opening leg in Goa.

The Malaysian duo scored 534 points out of a maximum of 600, thriving in the second stage which majority of the field struggled to finish.

Merwyn Lim (co-driver Hamizan Bin Abdul Hamid) in the sister Force Motors entry was second, 29 points adrift of the leading pairing.

Gerrari Offroader’s Gurmeet Virdi (co-driver Kirpal Singh Tung) was the nearest challenger to the Gurkhas, finishing the opening leg with 482 points on board.

Cedrick Jordan DaSilva (co-driver Floyd Preston) of home team Incredible Offroaders Goa was fourth in the standings, 42 points adrift of Virdi, with Bijender Singh from NIOC completing the top five.

Kabir Waraich, who has moved from Gerrari offroaders to Force Motors this year, trailed down in 11th place, after failing to complete SS2 within the stipulated time.

Elsewhere, RFC North and South Edition winners Tejinder Singh and Jagat Nanjappa were classified 18th and 15th respectively.

The first leg comprised of six stages across Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat, each testing the full capabilities of the drivers and their machines.

The second leg continues in the Rajiv Gandhi IT Park before the field heads to South Goa for the predator stages.
