Ford Trucks Posts $3,500 at Crandon for '08 BorgWarner Shootout

CRANDON, Wisc. -- The "Built Ford Tough" Truck Division of Ford Motor Company is once again posting a special $3,500 contingency prize to the winner of off-road racing's most celebrated race -- the annual BorgWarner Shootout at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway.

The Ford Trucks prize money is in addition to a giant $175,000 racer purse announced for the upcoming BorgWarner World Championship Off-Road Races0x00ae, Labor Day weekend, August 29-31, at the famous off-road track.

"Any Ford off-road racer displaying Ford decals and winning the race will receive the special $3,500 contingency," said Cliff Flannery, president, Crandon Raceway. "This is above and beyond our already record 2008 purse for the race weekend and 10-lap BorgWarner Shootout," he said.

The Ford Trucks posting is exclusive to Crandon International Off-Road Raceway, where "Built Ford Tough Trucks" serve as the official vehicles of the fabled Raceway. "Ford racers can only get it here, at Crandon, for the Big Race at the Big House," noted Flannery. Karcz Ford of Rhinelander is the local official Ford dealer at Crandon.

The 14th running of the BorgWarner Shootout caps the biggest weekend in the history of off-road racing at Crandon this Labor Day weekend. Ford Truck racers have won eight of the previous 13 races -- the most by any light-duty truck manufacturer.

Top Ford off-road racers contending for the $125,000 BorgWarner Cup -- the ultimate prize in off-road racing -- by order of registration include Carl Renezeder, Lake Forest, Calif.; Ross Hoek, Holland, Mich.; Scott Douglas, El Cajon, Calif.; Scott Taylor, Belvidere, Ill.; Dan Baudoux, Hemlock, Mich., Steve McCrossan, Gormley, Ontario, Canada; Don Williams, Mahtomedi, Minn.; Curt LeDuc, Cherry Valley, Calif.; Kyle LeDuc, Beaumont, Calif.; and Jenkins Brothers Racing stablemates Mike Jenkins and Mark Jenkins, Plano, Tex., among others.

The BorgWarner Off-Road World Championships officially kick off on Friday, August 29 in downtown Crandon with morning driver's meetings and an annual World Championship Labor Day Parade at Noon.

Racing kicks off on Friday at 6 PM with the second annual Forest County Potawatomi "Decision at Sundown" PRO Light Pickup Challenge Cup race. Saturday competition includes Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) points racing and World Championship title racing. Sunday is the final round of WSORR racing on Tour 2008 and season champs will be crowned. The BorgWarner Shootout caps the big weekend and is the last race of the 2008 WSORR season.More information at Crandon Raceway is available at crandonoffroad.com, while information about the World Series is at WSORR.com.
