WILSON ROLLS BACK THE YEARS WITH MAIDEN CAR RACING WIN
Stefan emulates Justin with Round 4 glory at Brands Hatch

Stefan Wilson followed in the footsteps of his elder brother Justin by taking his maiden Formula Palmer Audi win in Round 4 on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.

The 17-year-old Yorkshireman started second on the grid and hunted down Round 3 winner Tim Bridgman, passing him down Pilgrim's Drop with four laps to go. The win came in only Stefan's 10th car race, as he aims to emulate Justin, who won the first-ever FPA championship in 1998 before going on to race in Formula 1.

Behind the leading pair, Jolyon Palmer headed the chasing pack in the early stages, with Luciano Bacheta making the break past him at Stirling's on lap six, with Jack Clarke making it past at the same corner. Jolyon eventually fell to sixth after Jason Moore made it through into fifth three laps later, but held off a sustained last-lap onslaught from Dominik Jackson to remain in the top six. But there was no denying an emotional Wilson his first win in stunning fashion.

"It's an incredible feeling to win for the first time," said the Solvents With Safety-backed driver. "It means a lot to me, especially as I didn't win a race in karting last year, and I've got to thank my dad Keith for being so supportive!"

Second-placed Bridgman was sporting in congratulating Stefan, and was glad to notch up his second podium of the weekend: "He put me under a lot of pressure and drove very well. He used the boost button to perfection, but another second place is a step in the right direction."

Third-placed Bacheta kept up his 100% podium finish record, btu rued the amount of time it took to pass Palmer: "I think I had the pace to run with the front two, but it took me five laps to pass Jolyon. I managed to take a chunk of time out of them, but I just ran out of laps."
