JACK ATTACK TRUMPS FORMULA PALMER AUDI FIELD
Clarke takes maiden pole in Round 7 at Snetterton

Jack Clarke produced a jaw-dropping lap late in qualifying for tomorrow's seventh round of the Visma Formula Palmer Audi championship to take the first pole position of his car racing career.

The 19-year-old stepson of former Formula 1 and touring car ace Julian Bailey stunned onlookers with a lap of 1 minute 5.537 seconds in the JTB-supported car, giving him pole position by a quarter of a second. Tim Bridgman had to settle for second again, with Tom Bradshaw continuing his good form with third in the Accident Exchange entry.

"It was one of those magical laps where everything went right," exclaimed an ecstatic Clarke. "My next best lap was four tenths down, but it only takes one great lap to get pole, and that's exactly what I've done."

Currently fourth in the championship points table, Jack is confident of converting his pole position into a first FPA podium and possible even a victory. "It's still a very close field, so I hope luck is on my side tomorrow, but I'm really happy to be able to lead from the front."

Stefan Wilson will line up fourth on thr grid, ahead of championship leader Luciano Bacheta, who suffered a disappointing session after taking pole for Round 6 earlier in the day. Richard Plant impressed with sixth place, with Jolyon Palmer and Chris Bell lining up on row four. Alex Brundle couldn't repeat his stellar form from the first session and will start ninth, sharing the fifth rwo with Richard Kent.
