Strong race but Nick de Bruijn not rewarded

Nick de Bruijn didn't find his luck in Italy. The twenty-year-old driver from Vlaardingen was crashed out of the first race by another competitor in the opening laps. De Bruijn passed many drivers in the second race and running in sixth place he would have scored points, but one of his tires punctured forcing him to retire.

Nick de Bruijn has been unlucky in almost every round this season. He showed his good performance in many of the training sessions and races but a technical failure or reckless driving behavior of other competitors has prevented good results. The final race weekend in Monza also didn't start as planned. His chassis had torn and de Bruijn lost valuable time to work on the set-up of his car.

They gambled for the right set-up but it didn't work in qualifying. Grid position 23 was the result of that and a place where the ISR driver doesn't belong. De Bruijn tried to pass some drivers in the first lap but when the Dutchman turned in at the second chicane, someone hit the side of his car launching two wheels in the air, so de Bruijn was then out of the race.

Starting 29th on the grid, the young Formula Master driver overtook many others ahead of him and was eventually looked like he'd score the points he deserved, until one of his front tires punctured, which ended his season with no luck once again.

Nick de Bruijn: "The second race was fun and I overtook many drivers until one of my front tires punctured when I was in sixth position. I have been very unlucky this season. We couldn't test on Friday properly because of a problem again. We were forced to gamble with the set-up of the car and unfortunately we made a wrong decision. Then in the first race someone hit me quite hard and that didn't help as well. I want to thank everyone who has helped me this season and I hope I have some good news concerning my career very soon."
