ASPEN, CO - August 14, 2003 - Montreal's Circuit Giles Villenueve is rich in history for all of motorsports, but plays a special role in the FRAN AM 2000 Championship. In just its second year, FRAN AM will have its fourth race at Montreal's famed circuit, supporting the CART Champcar series on August 24th.

The FRAN AM series last visited Montreal in June to support the Formula One circus and raced twice. Robert Bell of England claimed the first race while 16-year-old phenon Andrew Ranger of Quebec claimed the second event. Ranger currently leads the FRAN AM Championship over Charles Hall and Bell.

Many of the teams and drivers are pulling for a dry weekend as the June date was marred by very unpredictable weather conditions; often changing between when the cars left the support paddock and reaching the track.

FRAN AM is unique in North America in its offering of modern open wheel racing to support CART, Formula One and GrandAm Rolex events. These 186 HP cars have much of the same technology as their senior brethren including 6 speed sequential gearbox, carbon fibre tubs and multi-dimensional chassis tuning to train both driver and teams members.

FRAN AM is a cousin of Formula Renault, arguably the most prolific development series in the world. These cars have produced Formula One drivers and are recognized by many as the most effective platform to train top drivers. More than 500 cars have been produced worldwide and some of the best drivers will be in cars at Montreal.

The FRAN AM Championship is rich in driver rewards with $28,500 prize money per event and a scholarship award for the Champion worth $450,000 plus additional rewards for second and third place finishers. Race and season awards total $1,825,000 making it the richest development series anywhere.

FRAN AM Sport is expanding next year when it introduces the high performance FRAN AM V6 to become the top rung in the FRAN AM ladder system. This 420 hp, ultra sophisticated race car will raise the bar for driver development in North America.
